Biography
The artist Dusciana Bravura was born in Venice in 1969. She graduated from Ravenna’s Mosaic Art Institute and later attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna.
Following a family tradition, she began to work with her father Marco Bravura, taking part in nine important works commissioned by local administrations.
Famous for her works from “A Thousand and One Nights”, she combines wedges of murrhine glass and other elements into an elegant harmony of colors and shapes.
The observer’s eye is inexorably drawn to the subtle gradations of shade in designs that are at times geometric and defined and at other times curvilinear and abstract.
Bravura’s great success has been in merging the artistic gesture of the age-old mosaic technique in a contemporary context, giving life to a highly imaginative universe, populated by mirrors and animals.
The common thread running through her art is a mosaic that has been re-interpreted in a contemporary key, the recurring theme of nature re-told and described like a fairy-tale.
Her works recall the arabesques of antique Islamic decorations, which contributes to the captivating and evocative nature of her works.
Since 1998, she has exhibited in many solo and group shows in Italy and abroad.
